About the event
Where? Old Harbour Woods are behind Riverside Quay and stretch along to the back of the Premier Inn. The entrance is through the pillars on Shore Road What will we be doing? This is the second session removing Himalayan balsam from the woods. It is shallow rooted and easy to pull up by hand. Himalayan balsam is an invasive species that shades out other vegetation. It has, unfortunately, become established in the woods and is shading out large areas of more diverse plant life. We plan to remove it before it can set seed. Why? TreeLink is discussing with Stirling Council the possibility of managing Old Harbour Woods as a community demonstration and meeting site. Activities are likely to involve removing invasive species, coppicing, tree planting and path work, as well as events to help connect people to woodlands. When?
