Advent Windows 2025

Hi Folks,

As Christmas fast approaches, it's once again time for the famous Riverside Advent Windows to open their shutters.

Hi, we're Ann, Christine & Emily and we're organising the Advent Windows this year. Firstly, we'd like to thank Chara, who has now moved on but who has done a magnificent job of this for many years - thanks, so much Chara!
For 9 years Riverside has been lighting up the dark December nights with window displays. Between the 1st and 24th December you can take a walk round Riverside and enjoy sparkling lights and festive scenes.

The map is now available you can find it here, our facebook page and limited physical copies can be found in the local shops.

The Advent Windows have become our annual fundraising appeal for the maintenance of the 3 community defibrillators in Riverside (eg replacement pads and batteries) and we encourage everyone lighting up their window to also consider donating to our Just Giving page. More information about the defibrillators and fund raising appeal can be found below.

Keep an eye on the Riverside Advent Windows Facebook Group for pictures of the windows – or better yet, come and take a wander round and see them in all their glory!

Cheers,
Ann, Christine & Emily

Fundraising Appeal
If someone suffers a cardiac event the use of a defibrillator can make a significant difference.
Riverside has three defibrillators that need regular maintenance and replacement parts. They are situated in key areas around Riverside (more information can be found on the Defibrillator page).

Each defibrillator is checked monthly for damage, vandalism and to ensure the batteries and pad are in working order. Items such as the pads, batteries and casing need replaced on a regular basis which is why our fundraising events are essential.
Supporting the Advent Windows by donating whatever you can, keeps these vital defibrillators working and ready to save a life.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be on the map to join in?
No – the map is an optional feature for this event.
Do I need to donate?
No – donation is optional. Christmas is an expensive time of year and awareness and support for the defibrillator project is important too. If it within your means you can donate all year round. Any amount makes a difference.
The Just Giving Page shows there is a lot of money already raised. Why do you need more?
The Just Giving Page shows the phenomenal amount that the project has raised over the past 9 years – including the money to buy and install the original equipment. This is NOT the amount of money the project currently has as it has been spent over the years maintaining the defibrillators.
There’s not a defibrillator near me. Why?
Lucky2bHere is the wonderful charity that supported and facilitated the installation of our defibrillators. It was with their expert advice and experience that the locations were chosen. You can find out more about them here.
